Additional Testing Information

List of 4 items.

  • HSPT Overview

Padua administers the High School Placement Test as an entrance and placement exam which is used by 85% of Catholic high schools and is required for all incoming 8th graders. We offer a HSPT Prep Course taught by Padua faculty in the fall of the 8th grade year. This two-part course provides students with the opportunity to learn test-taking strategies, take practice tests, and improve their time management. We also offer an optional 7th Grade Practice Test in March that is an excellent way for students to get familiar with HSPT testing procedures.
  • HSPT (Required for all incoming 8th graders)

The Diocese of Wilmington will administer the High School Placement Test (HSPT) at all diocesan and parish high schools the second weekend in November. The HSPT is an important step in the process of successful admission and placement in a Catholic diocesan or parish high school. This test is used for admission, scholarship, and placement decisions.
*Students MUST take the HSPT at their FIRST-CHOICE school.

The HSPT registration process must be completed online. All 8th grade students can register using the Diocesan HSPT Registration Link.  Registration opens early in September. The cost of the HSPT is $65.00 (non-refundable). Payment must be made at the time of registration via credit or debit card. Students will not be considered registered until payment has been received. If you are unable to pay online, please contact your student’s first-choice high school.
  • HSPT Prep Course (Optional but highly encouraged for incoming 8th graders)

In order to help our prospective students prepare for the HSPT we are pleased to offer a two session course that teaches test taking strategies, improves time management, and supplies practice tests. The course is $125 total for both sessions; textbook, lunch, snacks, and beverages are provided. These Padua faculty led sessions will include verbal and reading skills, mathematics, and cognitive thinking. Registration will open in August and the sessions are normally offered late September and mid October.
  • 7th Grade Practice High School Placement Test (optional)

The Practice High School Placement Test (HSPT) is for students currently in 7th grade. This practice test is a great way to let your daughter experience the structure and atmosphere of the HSPT in a lower pressure setting, before they have to take the required test in the fall of their 8th grade year.

Registration is now open and the cost is $65.  The Practice HSPT will be held Saturday, April 13, 2024, at 8:30 AM & Sunday, April 14, 2024, at 12:00 PM.
