This curriculum provides students with the skills necessary to create timely and unbiased coverage of events at Padua Academy and its surrounding communities through broadcasting, journalism, publication design, and photography.

Padua Media Group

Padua’s Media Arts classes come together as the Padua Media Group, giving students hands-on experience creating PATV programs and the Paduan yearbook. Through these student-led productions, students develop real-world skills in storytelling, media production, collaboration, and meeting deadlines for content that is shared with the Padua community.

Publication Design - Paduan Yearbook

A Padua tradition, our yearbook is a student-produced publication. From photography to layout, from editing to theme-development, students oversee each part of the process, fostering teamwork, leadership abilities, and design skills.

Student designers and editors have become published photographers, university newspaper editors-in-chief, and employees at top-rated publication companies, such as Conde Nast.

Television and Video Production - PATV

Padua’s nationally recognized PATV program produces over 75 live broadcasts each year, along with a variety of pre-recorded programs. Students take the lead in every aspect of production, from researching and writing to filming and editing.

PATV has earned top honors for its excellence in broadcasting, including multiple awards from the Mid-Atlantic Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts, the Journalism Education Association, and Sciences and the Delaware Press Association:

  • NATAS Mid-Atlantic Student Production Awards:
    • Multimedia Journalist (2024 & 2022)
    • Best Daily Newscast (2018)
  • JEA Delaware Journalist of the Year (2025, 2024, 2022, 2019, 2018)
  • Delaware Press AssociationBest Newscast: Radio or Television (2025, 2022-2016)

This legacy of success reflects the dedication and talent of our student broadcasters.

Our Graphic Arts curriculum challenges students to explore visual communication through projects that blend conceptual development, design principals in graphic design, and photography fundamentals.

Graphic Design

Padua’s Graphic Arts courses build skills in design, communication, technology, and creative thinking. This curriculum begins with an introduction to Graphic Design and Adobe Creative Cloud. Advanced Graphic Design classes (Drawing Digitally and also Storytelling Through Art) and AP Studio Art: 2D Design classes are available to students with a continued interest.

Digital Photography

Digital Photography introduces students to the fundamentals of photography, including camera controls, exposure, lighting, and angles. Students also learn to use Photoshop for enhancing, manipulating, and correcting images. This course emphasizes the creative process, linking photography to visual communication and graphic design through a focus on aesthetics and composition.
