Padua Partners with Chemours

We are SO #PaduaPROUD to announce Padua Academy’s new mentorship program with our friends at
The Chemours Company!

The program was initiated earlier this year by Diane Picho, Senior Director of Commercial Operations at Chemours, after Padua Advancement and Padua Engineering Teacher Cheryl Szurkowski had a conversation with her about a Chemours Grant. Soon after, Ying Liu and Susmita Bandyopadhya got involved and followed through with making this opportunity for our girls a reality.

During Wednesday's activity period, we kicked off the first of what we hope to be many opportunities for our students, to participate in discussions and other activities with their female workforce, one that Chemours plans on expanding to 50% of all global positions by 2030.

While there were far too many quotable moments from today’s Google Meet with Chemours chemists, data analysts, marketing as well as business executives, Rachel Evans summed it up best when she explained to our students that “education does not stop when you leave school.” Other advice from these successful women included establishing a mentor -- "it's what you know AND who you know." Our students were told it's about “seeing beyond your normal field of vision and not letting your degree define your career path.” And most importantly it's about "staying curious, having grit and being true to yourself."

A HUGE thank you to the following Chemours employees for sharing their knowledge and experience with our students today: Diane Picho - Sr. Director of Commercial Operations, Lesley Aulick - Sr. Director of Global Sales, Catherine Collison - Engineering Technology Team, Najwa Corum - Marketing Strategic Insights Leader, Natalia Duchini - Global innovation Director, Rachel Evans - IT Data Analyst, Victoria Karbonits - Key Account Manager and Yegewn Song-Spivey - Global Product Specialist.
