PATV Kicks Off a New Year of Student-Led Broadcasting

A new school year means a brand-new season of PATV, Padua’s nationally recognized student-run broadcasting program. The first episode of the year aired today, and you can catch new shows every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday online at https://www.youtube.com/@patv3849

Producing more than 75 live broadcasts annually—plus a variety of pre-recorded programs—PATV puts students at the heart of every production. From researching and writing to filming and editing, students gain hands-on experience in all aspects of broadcast journalism.

The program has earned top honors from the Mid-Atlantic Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, the Journalism Education Association, and the Delaware Press Association.

Students interested in joining PATV begin with Television & Video Production, a full-year course open to grades 10–12. This course introduces students to the broadcast and video production field, covering mass media, basic equipment, script writing, lighting, recording and editing, studio production, and professional ethics. Students produce Padua’s daily live news program, as well as content for PATV. Each student participates in every stage of production, from idea generation to script writing to post-production.

From there, students may advance into Advanced Television & Video Production, where they take on leadership roles as producers and floor directors, while mentoring first-year students and assisting in areas such as script writing, equipment use, and studio production.
