Students & staff at Padua have been on Pope Watch for the past two days, following conclave facts and live streams on TVs around campus. We even had a "Pope Watch" highlight on Instagram providing updates. When white smoke rose, our community gathered in the Panda Café to witness this historic moment.
We joyfully welcome Pope Leo XIV, the first North American Pope, and join the Church in prayer for our new Holy Father.
Padua has two degrees of separation from the Pope: Robert Francis Prevost, newly elected Pope Leo XIV, is a Villanova classmate and friend of teacher Barbara Markham! PATV’s Madison Keener ’25 sat down with renowned Padua Social Studies teacher Mrs. Barbara Markham to get the inside scoop on her connection to Pope Leo XIV.
