May It Please the Court, We Congratulate Padua's Mock Trial Team
The DE State Mock Trial Competition awards a gavel to the Best Attorney/Advocate and Best Witness each round of the competition. The scoring judges acknowledged the outstanding performance of Sophomore Katherine Corbo and Senior Catherine Keane as Best Witnesses, and Senior Jordan Bondrowski as Best Attorney/Advocate. Senior Chelsea Venters was awarded two gavels for Best Attorney/Advocate, a very impressive accomplishment!
Scoring judges’ feedback included acknowledgement of our creative theme for the case, our consistent and intriguing Opening and Closing Statements, our excellent accuracy of the Rules of Evidence and appropriate discretion of when to raise an objection and provide a response, impressive use of voice modulation to emphasize points, and enjoyment and zest for competition that made more than one judge feel as if it was a trial of trained professionals. Our Mock Trial Team, softly but strongly, prepared, effectively communicated, and competed with grace, conviction, confidence, and astute knowledge. We are so proud of our team! The members of the Mock Trial Team are Seniors Jordan Bondrowski, Kyra Dove, Catherine Keane, Colleen McClintock, and Chelsea Venters; Sophomores Anya Battista, Katherine Corbo, and Madilyn Macknis; and Freshmen Elizabeth Drost, Sarah Freville, Izabel Jipson, and Alyssa Whitmarsh.
We extend our sincere gratitude to our faculty advisor Ms. Emily Grugan and our attorney coaches Sarah Fruehauf, Maria Knoll, Kristina Lehman, and Nichole Warner.
