Padua Swim Team Places 2nd in DIAA State Tournament

Congratulations to the Padua Swim Team on its 2nd place finish at the DIAA State Swimming Championships on Saturday! This was a true team effort with 11 Pandas making the individual event finals and scoring points - the most of any team in the state! Freshman Emily Murphy led Padua with a 3rd place finish in the 100 Butterfly and a 4th place finish in the 50 Free. Other points for the Pandas were scored by seniors Lauren Mottel (5th 100 Fly, 8th 200 IM), Ally Stuebing(14th 50 Free), juniors Katherine Rush (13th 100 Breast), Maddy Samuels (9th 50 Free), Anna Kelly (12th 100 Back), Hannah Schulke (12th 50 Free), sophomores Meghan Speicher (6th 200 Free, 6th 500 Free), Lily Sicuranza (6th 100 Back, 16th 200 IM), Maggie Benson (13th 500 Free, 14th 100 Breast), and freshman Brigid Flanagan (12th 100 fly). 

Padua had a very strong showing in the relay events that score double points. The 200 Free relay team of SchulkeSamuelsMurphy, and Speicher took 2nd in the state. The 400 Relay team of MottelSamuelsMurphy, and Speicher finished 3rd, and the 200 medley relay team of SicuranzaBensonMottel, and Stuebing placed 4th. Freshmen Amy Lauderbaugh and Molly Grant and junior Darragh Jeker also swam personal bests in the preliminaries and moved up several places from their seeds. This meet was an exciting conclusion to a wonderful season for the Padua Swim Team. Congratulations to all members of the team!
