CyberPatriot Team State Championship

Padua's CyberPatriot team celebrated its sixth consecutive CyberPatriot State Championship title last week! Padua teams swept the board, placing first, second, and third in the tournament. Padua's State Championship team, Petabyte Pandas, was led by senior Samantha DiVirgilio and coached by alumna Leeza Butler. Madeline Dickerson, Sydney Kenton, Kate MacLennan, Sarah Jane Mee, and Elizabeth Trujillo joined Samantha to help Padua defend its title.

The Air Force Association's CyberPatriot competition occurs within a six-hour timeframe. Students are presented with virtual images representing operating systems and challenged with identifying the cybersecurity vulnerabilities within the images - all this while keeping computer functions working.

The 2nd place Cyber Pandas team, coached by Mr. Stinchcombe, consisted of Katherine Collier, Camryn Kelly, Hannah Mannering, Tingwei Shi, Sara Stoupa (captain), and Melina TrautmanMs. Marinelli's CyberSysters team placed 3rd in the state. Olivia Lundstrom led her CyberSysters, Devon Carter, Miranda Evans, Samantha Faraone, Sarah Houseal, and Kelsey Mulrooney to round out the sweeping victory.

Mr. Stinchcombe expressed gratitude to all who participated in the CyberPatriot program during the last five years. He noted, "It is great to see Padua again leading the state from a Cyber competitions perspective. This year in particular we have seen a fantastic increase in the number of freshmen competing. This bodes well for future competitions. Lastly, I would like to commend the winning team captain Samantha DiVirgilio '19 and coach Leeza Butler (Padua alumna) for guiding their team to the state title. Our next stop is GirlsGoCyberStart!"
