  • Summer 2025: Germany, Poland, and Czech Republic

    Trip leader: Mr. Anthony Stopyra
    astopyra@paduaacademy.org

    Itinerary:
This European trip will take us to locations full of history, culture and meaning. We begin in Berlin, Germany, with the impressive architecture of the Brandenburg Gate. Walk along the Kurfürstendamm, a beautiful and elegant avenue full of stores, restaurants and people; there will be time for shopping and eating.  Some of the twentieth centuries most important events will come alive at Berlin’s museums and memorials, such as at the Topography of Terror, Checkpoint Charlie, and the remains of the Berlin Wall. After a train ride to Warsaw, Poland, we will see some of this capital city’s sites, including the POLIN Museum, with its amazing use of technology. A guided tour of the site of the Warsaw Ghetto will unfold more of the history of 20th century Europe. We will then travel to Krakow in Poland, where Pope John Paul II served as archbishop. Krakow was spared destruction in World War II and so much of the original medieval town remains. It is a beautiful place to explore. A very different experience awaits us at the site of the Auschwitz - Birkenau death camp; it is a serious and somber memorial site that helps us to understand the reality of the Holocaust. The final stage of the trip moves us to the Czech Republic and the city of Prague. Here we will sample some of its most memorable sites, such as Charles Bridge, St. Vitus Cathedral, and the Jewish Quarter. Throughout the trip, we will benefit from expert local guides, who will help us understand and appreciate the sites that we’ll visit. Great food will be available everywhere on the trip. More importantly, the culture and history that we’ll experience can help open the world to us.

    Parent Interest Meeting Dec. 7th:

Exchange Program

Padua Academy currently has an exchange partnership with our sister schools in France and Germany. Through homestay arrangements, students gain exposure to different cultures while connecting with international students who share our Catholic values. Groups of both male and female students typically visit for a 2 week period in October and are placed with host families from Padua and Salesianum. Host families provide room and board and the exchange students attend classes and participate in any extracurricular activities at Padua and Salesianum with their host. Weekends are spent with host families and both host and exchange students will spend a day together in New York City. For more information about this incredible opportunity which fosters life-long friendships and global awareness, please contact Jennifer Vintigni at jvintigni@paduaacademy.org.
