Second College Signing Event

Today, five students signed their letters of intent to play college sports this Fall.

  • Division I
    • Katie Dorsey (Cross Country / Track & Field) - University of Virginia
    • Madison Rieger (Cheer) - Monmouth University
    • Emily Haney (Cross Country / Track & Field) - Jacksonville University

  • Division III
    • Elena Bocchetti (Cross Country / Track & Field) - Moravian College



Katie Dorsey: During Katie’s time at Padua she participated in Padua Cross Country and Indoor Track Program all 4 years, Spring Track and Field for 3 years, and Softball for 1. She has made tremendous contributions to her teams who have made multiple appearances in the DIAA State Championship. 

From 2018-2021 the team won four State Championships in Cross Country.

From 2019-2022 the team won four State Championships in Indoor Track

And in 2019 and 2021 the team won two State Championships in Spring Track and Field.

Katie’s individual accomplishments during her time at Padua include:
  • 2019- All-County Cross Country and 3rd Team All-State Cross Country
  • 2020 - D1 Individual Cross Country State Champion, 1st Team All-Catholic Cross Country, 1st Team All-State Cross Country
  • 2021 - 
    • 1600m State Champion Indoor Track, 
    •  All-State Indoor Track, 
    • All-County Spring Track and Field Track, 
    • All-Catholic Spring Track and Field Track, 
    • 3200m & 1600m D1 State Champion Spring Track and Field,
    • D1 Individual Cross Country State Champion, All- County Cross Country, 1st Team All-State Cross Country
  • 2022 - 4x800m State Champion Indoor Track, All-State Indoor Track 
She has also competed in:
  • New Balance 5th Avenue Mile- where she was the 2nd HS Female finisher (5:07) 
  • Manhattan Invitational- where she was the Varsity A Race Winner (15:15)
  • New Castle County Championship - where she was the 2nd Place (19:07) 
  • DIAA State Championship Division 1 (Nov 2021) - where she was the Individual Champion 20:02 
  • NXR Southeast Regional (EastBay) Competition - where she finished 22nd Place overall (19:07)
Katie has also participated in various clubs at Padua including: 
  • Blue Gold
  • Student Council Executive Officer
  • PATV
  • National Honors Society
Katie will be signing with University of Virginia to compete on their Cross Country / Track & Field teams. She plans to major in Kinesiology next year.
 



Madison Rieger: During Madison’s time at Padua she has been a 4 year member of the Varsity Football Cheer team in the fall and a 4 year member of the Competitive Cheer team in the winter. She has been an integral part of the Cheer Team, making multiple appearances in the DSCA State Championships.
  • In 2019: the team won the State Championship in the Large Varsity Division
  • In 2020: the team placed 2nd in Large Varsity Division
  • And in 2021 and 2022: the team earned back-to-back State Championships in Large Varsity Division
  • In 2021 the team began competing in the Game Day Division, where they were named that year's State Champion and followed it up in 2022 with another title.

During Madison’s time on the Cheer team, some of her individual accomplishments include:
  •  Being named: Most Improved her freshman year
  •  Being named: Outstanding Senior her senior year
  •  Also being named Captain her senior year

Madison has also participated in various clubs at Padua including: 
  • Being a 2-year board member and ambassador for Blue Gold 
  • Being a Students in Action leader her junior and senior year 
  • A member of the National Honor Society
  • Being on the Honor Roll- junior and senior year
  • Being awarded the Service Merit Award- senior year

Madison will be attending Monmouth University  to compete on their Cheerleading team. 

She plans to major in Psychology: Pre- Med Track w/ a  minor in Childhood Studies.

Emily Haney: During Emily’s time at Padua she has been a four year member of the Cross Country team, a two year member of the Indoor Track Team, and in 2022 she joined the  Spring Track and Field team. She has played an important role in helping her team to win the Cross Country State Championship from 2018- 2022, in 2019 a championship for Spring Track, and 2022 a State Championship for Indoor Track.


Emily has received many awards in the classroom and has participated in various clubs throughout her time at Padua including: 
  • Being a member of the National Honor Society
  • Receiving Merit Service Award
  • Receiving the Zero Hunger Service Award
  • Being a Eucharistic Minister 
  • Being a member of the Environmental Conservation Club
  • And a Recipient of faith filled athlete award 

Emily will be attending Jacksonville University in the fall to compete on their  Cross Country / Spring Track team. 

She plans to major in Nursing next year.

And now for our Division III Athletes:

Elena Bocchetti : During Elena’s time at Padua she participated in Padua Cross Country, Indoor Track, and the Spring Track and Field Program’s all 4 years. Since Elena’s time at Padua, she has been a huge contributor to her teams who have made multiple appearances in the DIAA State Championship. 
From 2018-2021 the team won four State Championships in Cross Country.
From 2019-2022 the team won four State Championships in Indoor Track
And in 2019 and 2021 the team won two State Championships in Spring Track and Field.

During Elena’s time on the Track & Field teams, some of her individual accolades include:
  • In 2018 & 2019 receiving All State and All Conference in cross country. 
  • Being named All State and All Conference in Indoor track all 4 years
  • Being named All State and All Conference in Spring Track all 4 years
  • In 2022, the indoor 4x800 in which she was a member of qualified and competed in the New Balance Nationals and placed 12th overall.


Elena will be signing with Moravian College to compete on their XC /  Spring Track  team. 

She plans to major in Environmental Science  next year.

Ayanna Shah: During her time at Padua, Ayanna has been a 4 year member on Padua’s Varsity Field Hockey team. She’s been a key player and assisted the team in many victories along with leading the team to the 2019 DIAA State Championship in which they were the runner-up.   
In 2021, Ayanna was selected out of her U19 age group at the  Delaware Sharks Club to travel to Florida and compete in the USA Field Hockey Festival.      

Ayanna is also in many clubs at Padua including: 
  • Being a member of the National Honor Society
  • Being a member of Blue Gold
  • Being a member of Ronald’s Rescue
  • She is a member of the Delaware Youth Leadership Network program
  • Being a part of the Medical Shadowing program

Ayanna will be attending Alvernia University  to compete on their  Field Hockey team. 

She plans to major in Biology (Physicians Assistant Program) next year.
