Padua Students Win Record Amount of Scholastic Art Awards

Recently, 53 Padua Academy students were recognized with Delaware Regional Scholastic Art & Writing Awards. This is a record-breaking number of awards in school history. In the Art category, eight students were awarded the highest honor, the Gold Key; 19 students were awarded Silver Keys; and, 25 students received Honorable Mention. In addition, one student received a Silver Key in Writing.

The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards are the nation's largest, longest-running, and most prestigious visual and literary arts program recognizing creative accomplishments of students in grades 7-12. Gold Key works automatically advance to national judging. Jurors select work for national recognition based on three criteria: originality, technical skill, and emergence of a personal vision or voice. Senior Rebecca Gao was selected as one of the Delaware Regional Scholastic Art Awards' American Vision Nominees. Each region selects five Art works to nominate for this award, which is considered the "Best-of-Show". One of the five nominees will be selected by the National Scholastics program to represent the Delaware Region.

The awards ceremony will take place on Saturday, February 9th at Delaware State University. National Awards will be announced on March 12, 2019.
