College Advisement & School Counseling Updates

All Parents:
  • The 1st semester is quickly coming to an end. Please review your daughter's grades and assignments and encourage her to speak with her teachers if she has any questions.
  • The Counseling office is going to focus on healthy relationships in the upcoming months. Please take a look at the One Love website as this will be the basis of the information we send out to students.
  • Please see the College Advisement and School Counseling resource page on OnCampus for college financial aid resources. Counselors are happy to review financial aid offers with you if you have any questions.
  • Please encourage your daughter to begin thinking about and researching summer activities. While we just started the new year, it is important for students to identify potential jobs, camps, classes, volunteer opportunities, etc. now so that they can have a fun and productive summer.
Parents of Seniors:
  • Please have your daughter bring in all college admission and scholarship letters so that Mrs. Buchanan can make copies of them. This information is used for graduation.
  • There is a full list of scholarship websites on the Guidance resource page on OnCampus for you to look over with your daughter. Students and parents may also ask the colleges they have applied to how they can apply for more scholarships. Some academic departments within each college/university will have their own scholarships to offer.
Parents of Juniors:
  • Please identify which standardized test dates are the most convenient for your daughter to take the SAT and the ACT. Test dates can be found on the following websites:
    • SAT - www.collegeboard.org (March, May, June, August)
    • ACT - www.actstudent.org (February, April, June, July)
