Teacher Exhibits at 45th Annual Pastel Society of America Show

The Dream

Mrs. Denise Vitollo of the Padua Fine Art Department has been juried int0 what has been called “the Crown Jewel of Pastel Exhibitions” in New York City. Her work, The Dream, is one of the 180 pieces chosen from 1298 international submissions to be included in Enduring Brilliance, the 45th Annual Show of the Pastel Society of America. The exhibition was held in the Grand Ballroom of the National Arts Club.

She has also been juried into the Pastel Society of North Carolina International Online Exhibition, Pure Color 2017. Two of her pastels Swimming and Hidden are included in the online exhibition. The show may be seen here:

Jurors of The Connecticut Pastel Society’s 24th Annual National Juried Exhibition Renaissance in Pastel, have chosen one of Mrs. Vitollo’s pastels for their show at the Arts Center East in Vernon, CT.  Her work, Toward the Light, will be on view from October 4 until November 4. The Maryland Pastel Society’s Biennial National Exhibition, Shades of Pastel, will be exhibiting one of Mrs. Vitollo’s works at the Glenview Mansion Art Gallery, Rockville, MD. Underwater Flight will be on exhibit until November 17.

Locally, three of Mrs. Vitollo’s works (Eventide, Carrots, and Swimming) can be seen at the Region 12 Pennsylvania Art Educator’s Show The Art of Education. The exhibit continues until December 11 at Penn State Great Valley in Malvern.

Over the summer, Mrs. Vitollo traveled to the island of Bonaire to snorkel and photograph the abundance of underwater life to reference for her artwork. She also was included in The Connecticut Pastel Society’s Members Show Purely Pastel in Old Lyme, CT, and the Pastel Painters Society of Cape Cod’s International Show For Pastels Only. Additionally, she was notified of her Signature membership status with the Degas Pastel Society in New Orleans.
