Students Plan Fundraiser to Support Teacher’s Family Displaced by House Fire

The Padua community was sorry to hear that Mrs. Rainbow Shaw-Giaquinto, known to the students as “Mrs. G,”  lost her home to fire on Saturday evening. Gratefully,  Mrs. Giaquinto and her family were not home at the time.

Through the support of family, neighbors, and friends,  they are housed, safe, and beginning to recover.

The Padua community has rallied to support the family as well. They face a long process of displacement and rebuilding. From the moment they heard the news, the students have being eager to help.

The Student Council has responded to this desire by planning a “Dress Down Day”  this Thursday, September 11, to enable every student in the student body to come together and help the family rebuild. Each student will also write a brief card of support and prayer to the family.

In order to  “Dress Down”  each student will be asked for a minimum donation of $2.00. Students are permitted to wear only standard, loose fitting sweat pants,  and a standard crew neck t-shirt. To show their love and appreciation for “Mrs. G” the students have asked to wear Mrs. G’s “signature color”  Kelly Green or “rainbow” tie dye t-shirts.

Some parents and students have asked what else they can do to help. Those who wish to send a gift card or donation for the family can have the student drop them off in the Main Office.
