Traditions
Padua Academy is a school with many special and fun-filled traditions. Hardly a month goes by that we don't have something to celebrate. Here are some of our favorite traditions.
Freshman Welcome:
Seniors traditionally welcome incoming freshmen with the Freshmen/Senior Reception. At this event, Big and Little Sisters lay the foundation for their special relationship. One day each week in September is designated as "Freshman Day," which are days to welcome and cherish our newest family members. The last Friday in September is Freshman Welcome Day, which ends with a Student Council dance and a sleepover for the Freshmen and Seniors!

Freshman Camp: Freshmen get a chance to meet each other and do team building exercises before the school year begins. This has been great way to create unity among Padua's newest students.

Sophomore Spirit Day: This is a day tied to our Learning Through Service program. The morning begins with a prayer service followed by craft activities to benefit senior citizens and the homeless. Fun fills the afternoon for the sophomores.
Ring Day: Juniors celebrate becoming upperclassmen and begin to anticipate graduation by receiving their class rings. The juniors follow a special schedule during the school day and then attend their Ring Mass ceremony that evening, which is held at St. Anthony of Padua Church.
Senior Spirit Week: The Senior Class celebrates their last four years, their class spirit, and the countdown to graduation. The officers pick a theme to unite the weeklong activities that inspire unity and fun.
Moving Up Ceremony: At the last Mass of the school year, the students symbolically "graduate" to the next class year. We also celebrate the senior class as they prepare to depart our school. The entire Padua family reminisces about the last year and anticipates the exciting endeavors that await us next year.
Baccalaureate Mass & Graduation: There are few sights more emotional at Padua Academy than the graduating seniors processing in their white caps and gowns. The bishop of the Diocese of Wilmington presides over our magnificent graduation ceremony.
