Padua GRIT + Panda Power = DI Track & Field Champions
The Padua Track and Field team won its 6th straight spring track and field State Championship title.
Padua athletes or relay teams were state champs in 9 events; which is half of the events in the entire meet and scored points in 15  of the total 18 contested events. Another both notable and absolutely incredible fact is this senior class (class of 2017) won 16 consecutive state championship titles in the running sports – that is four triple crowns which may be a first in state history.
Lydia Olivere was a four-event winner and had to compete in all four of those events in one day due to the postponement of the Friday events due to inclement weather.  She started her day early at 9:00 am winning the 3200m, then came back 3 hours later to win the 1600m, followed up with wins in the 800m and in the 4x400m relay.
Taliah Cintron won the 300m hurdles for the fourth consecutive year and was also part of the winning 4x400m relay.
Darby Deutsch won the Pole Vault in tough conditions as that event was stopped mid-way thru competition on Friday evening and she had to pick up where it left off on Saturday morning with completely different conditions – resilience at its finest. Darby was also part of the winning 4x400m relay.
Cameron Lucey won the 100m hurdles. Arryana Daniels won the triple jump setting a new school record of 38′ 3.25″.  Lizzy Bader anchored the winning 4x800m relay and was also a member of the 4x400m relay. Bailey Apostolico, Katie Hally, and Victoria Steinhoff were all members of the 4x800m winning relay team.
Silver Medalists for Padua were Taliah Cintron in the 100m hurdles, Camryn Harris in Pole Vault, and Maddie Olivere in the 3200m.
Bronze medalists for Padua were Victoria Steinhoff in the 800m, Maddie Olivere in the 1600m, and Marie Soja in shot put.
Rounding out the point scorers for Padua were;  Anna Cleary 4th in 1600m, Alicia LeNoir 4th in 3200m, Arryana Daniels 4th in long jump, Lizzy Bader 4th in 300m hurdles & 6th in High Jump,  Chioma Njoku 4th in shot put, Darby Deutsch 5th in long jump, Julia Sardo 5th in pole vault, Hannah Apostolico 6th in 800m, Cameron Lucey 7th 300m hurdles, Cecilia Onekalit 8th in shot put, Annmarie Twum-Danso 8th in 400m.
