Padua Named to Catholic Education Honor Roll

Padua Academy has been recognized by the Catholic Education Honor Roll. The award was announced Sept. 15 by The Cardinal Newman Society, which in 2012 named Padua one of America’s Top 50 Catholic High Schools. This distinction recognizes Padua’s excellence in Catholic identity, academics, and civic education. Padua is among only nine schools to earn this honor.

Since 2004 the Honor Roll has celebrated quality Catholic education throughout the United States. With the many education choices available to families, “the Honor Roll has been a helpful tool for administrators, families, and benefactors in recognizing the quality of a Catholic high school,” said Patrick J. Reilly, President of The Cardinal Newman Society. “The Honor Roll schools are a reminder that Catholic education is getting better every day—not only academically, but in the renewal of Catholic identity—and we are delighted to see the increased level of competition among the schools that participated in the program this year.”

Padua’s Head of School Cindy Hayes Mann said that the recognition is a great honor. “I applaud our teachers, staff, students, and parents for their hard work and commitment to the transformational education that Padua provides for young women.”

Padua Academy has 661 students from Delaware, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Maryland. The curriculum includes more than twenty Advanced Placement courses and honors courses in every subject. In recent years, course offerings have expanded to include new electives in Engineering, Business Leadership, Sports Medicine, Ethics of Science, and cutting edge technology courses including Cyber Security.

Padua consistently achieves a 100% college acceptance rate, and the 127 students in the graduating class of 2014 were awarded more than $17.7 million in scholarships to colleges and universities across the country.

The National Catholic High School Honor Roll was created by The Acton Institute in 2004, and the Cardinal Newman Society assumed the program in 2012. The Honor Roll was produced in consultation with a national advisory board comprised of Catholic college presidents and noted Catholic scholars.
