Padua Academy has announced a scholarship fund in memory of its founder Fr. Roberto Balducelli, an Oblate of St. Francis de Sales. The scholarship will be awarded to an incoming freshman student and will be a strictly need-based scholarship.

“It is an honor to establish a scholarship in memory of Fr. Roberto Balducelli,” said Cindy Hayes Mann, Head of School. “I know through many conversations and walks through this school with Fr. Roberto that he loved with all of his being the mission and purpose of Padua. His legacy is felt everyday, and this scholarship will remind each new generation of young ladies of the mighty sacrifice of love, faith, and joy Fr. Roberto expressed in creating Padua Academy. This scholarship will ensure that his legacy is remembered long into the future.”

The scholarship is named for the late Fr. Roberto Balducelli who, when he founded Padua Academy in 1954, sought to build a “school with a soul!” In building Padua, largely with the help of volunteer labor and donated materials, Fr. Roberto did more than just provide a high school for the girls of St. Anthony of Padua Parish. He built a school that expressed in its form and function the Good News of the Gospel. It was a place where community, learning, and achievement could be accomplished under one roof.

The scholarship was announced at Padua’s 5th Annual Dinner in Honor of Women’s Achievement where it received a $1,000 donation from Leigh Anne Tuohy, the inspirational mother behind the story The Blind Side. Padua also received a foundational gift from Barbra Frank Andrisani in the amount of $10,000.
