Padua Cross Country Wins Fourth Consecutive State Championship!

_dsc3765 Padua’s cross country team won its fourth consecutive State Championship title at the DIAA State Championship Meet on Saturday, November 12th. This is Padua Cross Country’s 17th State Championship title.

Lydia Olivere (junior) was the division 1 individual state champion for the third-straight year, completing the challenging 5K at Brandywine Creek State Park in a new course record time of 18:23.

Padua’s runners put forth the strongest finish in team history, placing all seven of its runners in the top 9 places in a race with 115 competitors. Leading the charge behind Lydia was her sister and senior captain Maddie Olivere, placing 3rd overall in 20:43. Following closely behind were senior Hannah Apostolico (4th – 20:45), sophomore Alicia Lenoir (5th – 20:48), sophomore Katie Hally (6th – _dsc3971mo20:57), junior Victoria Steinhoff (8th – 21:00), and sophomore Anna Cleary (9th – 21:03).

Cross Country Runner Lydia Olivere was nominated for September 26 DYESTAT Performance of the Week for her race in the Carlisle Invitational in which she ran a 17:22 setting the challenge race record as well as the state, national, and of course Padua records!

At the Paul Short Invitational, Padua Cross Country placed 6th overall at Lehigh University on Saturday, October 1st. Junior Lydia Olivere came in first place with a time of 17:27. In the JV race, Senior Brynna Gaffney came in second, and the JV Team came in first place.
