Padua Academy Leads Baltimore-Area College Tour

Padua tours Loyola's Admissions Office

Padua Academy hosted a college bus tour, taking students to three campuses in the Baltimore area on Oct. 27.   The day began at Johns Hopkins University with a tour at 9am. After the hour-long tour, students met with 2012 Padua graduate, and current JHU student, Chaney Giordano, who shared her experiences with the current Padua students. Chaney encouraged Padua students to look for the best academic programs that fit their needs and to pursue those programs with great passion. Chaney spoke of the challenging curriculum offered at Johns Hopkins and how well Padua prepared her for that challenge.

The next stop on the tour was Towson University. Students embarked on a 90-minute tour during which they learned about the many majors, campus activities, living environment, and the many opportunities offered at Towson. During the tour, 2014 Padua graduates and current Towson students Brittany Conner and Ashley Knotts joined the group to talk about their first year courses, daily schedules, and the activities they have enjoyed so far on campus.

The final stop was at Loyola University. Upon arrival, Ian McNeely, current Loyola University student and the older brother of Padua seniors Gabby and Ashley McNeely, stopped to speak to the group about the success he’s experienced on campus. Padua’s group walked the campus, met with admissions counselors and even enjoyed a treat from the on-campus Starbucks!

Joel Lang, Padua’s Director of College Advisement and Guidance, said the trip was an overwhelming success, saying, “Our students asked outstanding questions, gathered pertinent information for their college process, and experienced college first hand. We heard many comments of how impressed the college admissions representatives were with our students. We even heard multiple comments about how well they presented themselves. We were very proud of the approach the students took with this college tour.”

With such a successful trip, Padua is looking to host an overnight college tour for sophomores and juniors in the Spring, with plans to visit colleges around New York City, Northern New Jersey, and Western Connecticut.
