Catholic Schools Week!

Since 1974, National Catholic Schools Week is the annual celebration of Catholic education in the United States. It starts the last Sunday in January and runs all week, which for 2018 is January 28 – February 3. The theme for the National Catholic Schools Week 2018 is “Catholic Schools: Learn. Serve. Lead. Succeed.” Schools typically observe the annual celebration week with Masses, open houses and other activities for students, families, parishioners and community members. Through these events, schools focus on the value Catholic education provides to young people and its contributions to our church, our communities, and our nation.

Padua Academy celebrated in a variety of ways starting with a Liturgy Mass with Bishop Malooly, items of service such as “Love Your Neighbor” sock sales where proceeds will go to help Catholic Relief Services to benefit the Rohingya refugees. Each day during afternoon prayer, our Student Council students led a hunger based prayer offering a stark statistic about hunger and famine in the world and how we can pray for those affected by this crisis. We have done fun activities such as our Cake Wars event with faculty and student teams building our community bonds, and a fun dress-down day theme for each day of the week. On Friday, we will all come together in the gym for a fun Pep Rally incorporating our cheer team, games and a lot of school spirit!

We are proud of our Catholic identity at Padua Academy. Having faith as an integral part of all that happens here draws us even closer to one another as we serve God, and each other.
